Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process of IV therapy?
We will review your health history and ask a few important questions for safety. Placing the IV will include a small, quick puncture into a vein in the arm. The needle is removed and a small, straw-like catheter will stay in place, where your fluids will be administered.
Do I need a prescription or doctor's note?
A prescription or note from a doctor is not required for most of our services; nevertheless, it is always advisable to speak with your primary care provider prior to receiving an IV infusion. Our processes and procedures are approved and monitored by our Medical Director, and we follow all state and federal regulations. If you are pregnant, and wish to have vitamins and medications added to fluids, you will need a note from your Obstetrician, approving each additive.
Does this hurt?
The process of inserting the IV can cause a small amount of pain. The infusion itself is not painful. Bruising and/or discomfort at the IV site after removal is also common.
Who can receive IV treatment services?
Generally, ages 13+. Some individuals are not eligible for IV therapy, based on certain medical conditions. Minors are eligible on a case-by-case basis, and are subject to weight restrictions and PCP approval. Pregnant women can receive services with OB approval.
How long does it take for a treatment?
Depending on the person and course of treatment, the infusion can take 45 mins to 1 hour.
How often should I get IV Therapy?
Each patient and course of treatment is different. If you are receiving IV therapy as part of a treatment for a medical condition, follow the treatment plan outlined by your doctor. Generally, we recommend 1-2 treatments per month to maintain vitamin and electrolyte levels. Certain services have better results with a consistent regimen, your nurse will provide guidance based on your treatment type. Explore our Memberships & Packages for more information.
